We are well into our new school year and the new band of ECO Warriors are working hard to keep our school eco friendly! The super news is that Delves Infants School has now achieved the 'Eco-Schools Silver Award'!

So here goes!!!

Our next target is to achieve the' Eco-School GREEN FLAG Award'. This is the highest award available and the hardest one to reach!!!

Bug Hunting

We decided to check out how well our new outside environment has helped the local wildlife.

We used magnifying glasses to investigate all the habitats where mini beasts hang out.

Under logs and large stones were some of the favourite places for woodlice, snails, slugs and centipedes.

Spiders also found cracks in the bark to hide. It is getting colder and the creatures are beginning to find their safe place to hibernate for the winter.

                                           The Big Autumn Clean up!

After a wonderful summer the garden was looking a bit untidy, vegetables had finished and gone to seed, weeds were beginning to take over and things needed sorting out for the winter.

The pond has been full of wildlife this year and to make sure it keeps attracting different creatures we needed to clear all the extra pond weed. It was a wet and messy job but we loved it!!!

All the weeds and dead plants were put into the compost bin to make food for the garden next year!
