At Delves, we are continually striving to do better. We are always keen to take on board advice from our parents and reflect on best practice. Here are some of the things our parents have said;

 

You Said, We did!
 

Communication

You asked us to communicate with you by text and email: we have now invested in the SchoolComms system and can now send an instant text to all parents who have provided us with a mobile phone number. We are beginning to use email and currently email certificates to children who have achieved 100% attendance for a whole term. If you want to be included in this means of communication, please ensure that the school has an up-to-date mobile number and email for you.

You asked for more notice of events in school: we now send a list of diary dates out at the beginning of each term. Reminders are sent out for key events and trips. This information can also be found on our website.

Supporting your child's learning
You asked for more information on how your child is performing in school and what level they are working at: we will now share levels with parents at every Parents Evening and also discuss progress that your child has made so far that year. In addition to this, you will be informed of your child's levels for Reading, Writing and Maths along with their end of year report in Years 1 and 2.

You wanted more information out about what your child is learning in school: we now send out Creative Curriculum topic webs to children in Reception and Key Stage One, showing what children will be learning about that half-term. These also contain homework challenges to encourage parental partnership in children's learning. This information can also be found on our website.

You wanted more information on how you can help your child to learn: we have run two workshops about the methods we use in school to teach reading and maths: Read, Write,Inc and Magic Maths. These workshops covered how we teach in school and how you can support you child at home. The Rhyme Time Challenge and WOW days in Reception and the Nursery open days also provide opportunities for parents to get more engaged in their child's learning.

Nursery home visits
You wanted a member of the nursery staff to be involved in the home visits for new nursery children: The lead teacher in nursery for September 2014 has accompanied Julia Moyse on all the home visits for children starting our nursery in September.

You wanted a better means of re-arranging home visit times: Parents now have the option to email Julia Moyse to re-arrange home visits, alongside using the mobile phone number.

Family Challenges
You wanted a reminder sent out telling you when the Family Challenge needed to be in: 
In the future we will send out a text via SchoolComms reminding you of the date. The date is also on the Family Challenge sheet, this can be found via a link on the Parent Support Advisor page in the Community section of the website.

You wanted us to fix the dates for the Family Challenge celebrations in advance so that working parents can arrange to attend: We will now fix the dates from September and send them out with the other important dates. 

You wanted a better explanation of what to do for the Family Challenge: A leaflet will be sent out in September giving an explanation of what the Family Challenge is all about and how to complete it. This leaflet will also be included in the school induction pack for new parents.
