Maths

At Delves Infant and Nursery School we seek opportunities to apply mathematics to everyday life and for children to experience the importance of its everyday use. We wish to equip children with mathematical knowledge so that they can see the beauty and power of mathematics and have a sense of enjoyment and curiosity about the subject. Mathematics at Delves strives to ensure that all our pupils have a mathematical foundation for understanding the world and are prepared for financial literacy and most forms of employment.

Power Maths

We are excited to be using Power Maths! Power Maths is a clearly structured teaching and learning process that helps ensure that every child masters each mathematical concept securely and deeply. For each year group, the curriculum is broken down into core concepts, taught in units. A unit divides into smaller learning steps – lessons. Step by step, strong foundations of cumulative knowledge and understanding are built.  Children also have an Arithmetic lesson each week where the focus is fluency with number, multiplication tables and the four operations.
