Our School Day
The school day begins for all pupils in Reception to Year 2 at 9.00am. Children should not be left unattended in the playground. Teachers will come out on to the playground at 8.50am to speak to parents and children can come into the building between 8.55am and 9.05pm, The morning session runs from 9am to 12pm for reception and 12.15pm for Years 1&2. The afternoon session begins at 1pm for reception and 1.15pm for Years 1&2. The school day ends at 3.20pm.
Nursery session is from 9am to 12pm for the morning group and from 12.30pm to 3.30pm for the afternoon group. The session for children attending 30 hours will run from 9am - 3pm.
If you need to collect your child during the school day, please report to the school office at the main entrance. Arrangements will be made for your child to join you there, and you will be asked to sign out. This is an important Health and Safety requirement for fire evacuation procedures. Proof of any appointments will be required.
A Day in the life of a Reception child
Some children arrive for the school day at 8.40am for Early Morning groups. All other children arrive at 9.00am for the register.
Throughout the day children participate in whole class learning, group work and independent activities. They enjoy a snack time part way through the morning followed b daily 'Story Time Phonics' lessons to support their Early reading.
At 12:00pm the children go over to the canteen to eat their school dinner and have a play on the playground with their friends.
After dinner the children take part in a 'Power Maths' lessons to develop their maths fluency and reasoning skills.
Children the have the opportunity to explore indoor and outdoor activities liked to their curriculum.
At the end of the day children enjoy a story before the day ends at 3:20pm.
A Day in the life of Year 1 and 2
Some children arrive for the school day at 8.40am for Early Morning Reading groups. All other children arrive at 9.00am for the register.
In the morning session, Year 1 and 2 enjoy phonics, English and Maths lessons.
At mid morning they have a break time and all children are offered a piece a fruit.
After lunch, the afternoon session begins from 1.15pm where children take part in many subjects throughout the week including; History, Science, Geography, Music, RE, PE, Art, DT, forest school ad Commando Jos.
There is an assembly at 3:00pm each day followed by children getting ready to go home at 3:20pm.
