World Book Day – Thursday 6th March
Tue 04 Feb 2025World book day is a wonderful time to celebrate what children love to read and what better time to read or be read to them at bedtime! This year we are giving children the choice of coming to school in their pyjamas to celebrate the power of a bedtime story or to dress up as their favorite character from a book!
As always, we want to encourage children to bring in what they enjoy reading. Whether that is a comic, a magazine, a book or an annual we would love to see what gets your child excited about reading. We will have some time during the celebrations to share these with the class so please have a chat with your child in preparation. If you are not currently a member at your local library this is the perfect chance to get signed up and encourage your child to choose a book to bring in to school.
There will be lots of fun activities taking place throughout the day and children will receive their £1 book token during World book day to spend in supermarkets or book stores. This year’s book choices can be seen at https://www.worldbookday.com/books-and-tokens/books/
We will also be starting a book swap on Monday 24th February. Please drop off your unwanted books in the box outside the library bus. Whether or not you’ve got a book to bring along to swap, come and browse and find something you might like to read. It will be available during both drop off and pick up time weather permitting.
Thank you for your continued support,
Mrs Harrison, Reading leader

Delves Readathon
Tue 04 Feb 2025Taking part in a Readathon is a brilliant way to get reading and raising to help provide much-needed books and resources to further support reading in school.
Throughout February your challenge is to read at home for at least 10 minutes every day. That’s 280 minutes of reading! Are you up for the challenge? If so, collect sponsorships and record them on your sponsorship form.
Once all sponsorships are collected the money you have raised can then be paid into school via your ParentPay account by Wednesday 5th March 2025
There will be a reading sticker for everyone that completes the Readathon, a certificate for £5 raised, a small prize for £10 raised and the top five fundraisers to go into a prize draw to win a special prize. These will be awarded on World Book Day!
